Mattel PlayBack

Mattel PlayBack is a new toy takeback pilot program that will enable families to extend the life of their Mattel toys once they are done playing with them.
The new program is designed to recover and reuse valuable materials found in Mattel toys for future Mattel products, keeping toys out of the landfill.

Play It Forward

In 2020, Mattel said thank you to our heroes on the front lines, through play. #ThankYouHeroes
Our Play it Forward program will continue to leverage our iconic brands to give back to communities in need. Check back soon to learn more..

About Mattel Playroom

As a toy company, we love to make the things that make kids smile. Behind all of the awesome toys and amazing games is a deep understanding and respect for the power of play, especially when things are in flux for kids. The power to teach, to grow and to laugh – that’s what keeps us connected.
Now, more than ever, taking time to play is not just ok, it’s essential. Our kids need it and so do we. It relaxes and reassures us; it connects us and it’s fun. As we shift to work and play from home, the ability to focus and manage our time is more challenging than ever. That’s why we’re building the Mattel Playroom. A virtual, singular source of play and hope for parents and caregivers. Activities, expert advice, games and content from all of our amazing brands will now be available in one place.
Stay connected, keep laughing and #KeepPlaying.

Our Impact

The Mattel Children's Foundation has focused on one major objective: Improving the lives of children in need. During this time of uncertainty, we continue to support our philanthropic partners and look for additional ways to help our community and give back in any way that we can through play.
  • LAUSD Support

Mattel will be supporting the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) by donating over 10,000 various games, school supplies and toys, which will be distributed alongside the meal kits LAUSD is providing for students at grab & go centers across the city. Mattel also participated in the “LA Students Most in Need,” a fundraiser for LAUSD students and their families who are struggling during the Coronavirus pandemic, which has raised over $300,000.

  • Community Donations

We are also partnering with and donating to key organizations within our community, including Baby2Baby, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, Save the Children, Pediatric Vision Group and more.

  • UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital

Mattel is a proud philanthropic partner of UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and its extended family of UCLA Health resources, experts and thought leaders.
